Thriving jazz communities have jazz collectives which are a mix of veteran musicians and younger performers who gain experience and go on to launch their own careers and projects. Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers is a good example of the most successful of these groups.

Northeast Ohio is no different, and Jazzworks is that group. Jazzworks is a rotating octet of musicians each of whom bring their own backgrounds and perspectives that shape a great night of music. Featuring Howie Smith on Alto Saxophone, John Klayman on Tenor Sax, Joe Miller on Trumpet, Mark Mauldin on Trombone, Aidan Plank on Bass, Anthony Fuoco on Piano, Bob Ferrazza on Guitar and Steve Reno on Drums, and from a May 6th, 2022 performance, it’s Jazzworks – Live at the Bop Stop.

Live at the Bop Stop is made possible by the Music Settlement – serving Northeast Ohio by offering music instruction – music therapy and early childhood education since 1912. The Music Settlement’s mission is to welcome all to our music and arts community to learn – create – inspire – and heal.
